In a city defined by the varied delights of outdoorsmanship, gastronomy, arts, culture, and blanketed by an ever-present cosmopolitan buzz, it’s no surprise that the accommodation options are as wide-ranging as the opportunities for adventure.

If you’ve got the money to spend, you can live it up in sprawling condos or penthouse suites that open out onto brochure-worthy vistas of rugged peaks and crystal lakes. If you’re traveling on a shoestring, there’s plenty of spots offering affordable amenities and practical comfort. Anti-social outdoorsmen can find mountain-top hideaways, while youthful socialites can get right in amongst the downtown action or meet genuine locals on a farm stay. A true city of multiplicity, Kelowna has a place for everyone.

That’s why we’ve put together this guide to the cream of the crop places to stay. Whether you’re a large family unit or a broke student exploring during spring break, you can find something perfect for you in the list below.

One hot tip before we get started, if you have your own transport and want to experience the very best in holistic wellness, state-of-the-art facilities, and a wilderness location like no other, we can’t recommend Sparkling Hill Resort enough. It’s such a dream getaway spot that it needed a whole write-up of its own. Trust us, it’s worth that little extra drive.

The Royal Kelowna – Bellstar Hotels & Resorts

Travellers seeking to set their stay amongst authentic grandeur should heavily consider The Royal Kelowna.

Upon entering the gates, you will be greeted by warm light emanating from the resplendent entrance, flanked by wings that are more glass than anything else – all the better for admiring the fantastic views of the city. What you won’t see from the entrance, however, is the majesty of their rooftop infinity pool with Okanagan Lake so close you could practically dip a toe in it. The jaw-dropping views continue poolside, with a horizon panorama that wraps you in far-off peaks. You will want to catch at least one sunset from up here – maybe from the hot tub?

Inside you’ll find finely-marbled foyers, a fitness centre, and relaxing sauna. The open-plan guest rooms feel like the house of an old friend, considerately fitted with all the essential mod cons. Your own full dining room, flat-screen TV, sofa lounges, and spa bath will leave you wanting for nothing. You’ll find yet more gorgeous views from your own personal lake-facing balcony.

The location is great too, just a handful of minutes from the airport (with a free shuttle bus service), Harvest Golf Club, Black Mountain Golf Club, Prospera Place, and Lake City Casinos!

All of this is accompanied by an extensive list of local wines and beers, to bring the Okanagan back into this little slice of Italy.

If you prefer to do your swimming in a contained environment, they have their own pool too, plus a private gym and hot tubs.

If that wasn’t enough aquatic options for you, don’t worry, the Manteo has its own indoor swimming area and a beautiful pier jutting out in Okanagan Lake to boot!

Best Kelowna Cabins

Blue Room Bungalow

Vintage, tranquil, and dripping with artistic flair, this bungalow is a haven for travellers in need of a good unwinding. The perfect location puts it a short walk from the rugged splendour of Knox Mountain Park and the urbane bustle of the cultural district.

With only one bedroom, this place is only suited to couples or solo travellers, but boy will they be spoilt. This heritage home is full of authentic antique furnishings, bordered by the blooming beauty of a fragrant rose garden, and features a one-of-a-kind decorative approach with none other than the owner’s own art. If you fall in love with a piece and want to take a part of this sanctuary home with you, they’re all for sale!

The owner will be sharing the property with you, but we consider this a plus as her hospitality and knowledge of the local area is rivalled by none. She knows all the best spots, regardless of your interests, and even offers discount shuttle services to and from the airport.

All the home essentials can be found here, as well as beach and lake access, plus a BBQ out on the patio.

Blue Room has cultivated an atmosphere of absolute serenity, so for that reason, neither children nor pets are accepted.

Family Paradise at La Casa Lakeside Cottage Resort

Thirty-minutes drive north of West Kelowna is the scenic escape of La Casa Cottage Resort – and amongst the owners here, nobody is as highly rated as superhost Robert.

This 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage is equipped with all the features of a regular home and is ideal for family holidays. Drink in the layered majesty of the rolling Okanagan hills, shoreline, and expansive lake waters from your own private decking area at the front of the property. Or take a minute’s walk to the sandy beachfront and enjoy the lake up close.

As the cottage is part of a resort, you’ll benefit from unlimited access to a huge list of amenities that includes a children’s play area, hot tubs, swimming pools, sun decks, and a marina with a boat launch. Sports fans will find volleyball and tennis courts, as well as a mini-golf course. This place is a killer stay for water sports fanatics too, or even beginners who want to try their hand at renting boats, water skis, or even a jet ski from the local vendors!

Pets are welcome at a small extra cost per night.

Jennifer’s Adventure Cottage

Not too far to the east of Kelowna is a rustic mountain getaway setting like no other. Jennifer’s ultra-cozy 5-guest cottage is perfectly placed to bask in untouched wilderness while remaining only a half-hour’s drive from many of Kelowna’s best attractions.

Snug and smartly furnished, you’ll be immersed into mountain life immediately. Peer out across tranquil waters from your bedroom window or take the private pier to an adorable little chill-out island in the pond’s centre. Unique and thoughtful quirks like this abound, ensuring the most memorable of stays.

Amenity-wise, you’ll benefit from all the wilderness home essentials, as well as a fire pit, hot tub, and an indoor fireplace. There’s even a dedicated workspace with Wi-Fi for all the digital nomads amongst you. The only thing this place lacks is a TV, but trust us, you won’t miss it!

Nearby you’ll find ample opportunities for all manner of mountain activities and snow sports, with the option to use the host’s mountain bikes, kayaks, and snowshoes if you pay a deposit.

Winter transforms this place into the most fairy-tale destination imaginable, but you will need a 4×4 and proper winter tires to get here safely.

Serenity Lakeside Cottage

Our furthest afield cottage recommendation lies out on the shores of Idabel Lake, just under an hour’s drive east from Kelowna. This rustic barn-style cottage is the ultimate base for a huge range of outdoor adventure activities that change with the seasons.

In the summer, hit the lake to swim, fish, or take advantage of help-yourself rowboats and canoes. Or, if you prefer dry land, hunting and quad biking are among the local favourite pastimes. In the winter, there’s snow sports galore with cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, and ice fishing opportunities all nearby. Hiking in the breathtaking mountains here is a highlight no matter when you visit.

The cottage itself is adorable, well-equipped, and pet-friendly. The loft space has three double beds, plus there’s room for one more on the sofa bed in the living room. You’ll be self-sufficient with a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry appliances.

Enjoy tranquil lake views from the spacious decking area, complete with a BBQ. You’ll also find a private hot tub to the side of the cottage.

While it may be a bit of a drive from Kelowna, and the cell signal is patchy at best, you would be hard pushed to beat this location for its outdoorsmanship potential.

OK Cottage at Boucherie Beach

Most of the quaintest, coziest cottages around Kelowna are situated far off in the surrounding hills and forests. This is great if you want to get away from it all, but what if you still want some city in your city-break?

Introducing: OK Cottage! The front door of this beautiful 3-bedroom cottage opens directly onto your own private beach. There’s really no better way to start your day than an invigorating dip in Okanagan Lake. Despite this, you’re only a few minutes away from all the urban amenities that West Kelowna has to offer.

As well as instant beach access and tonnes of green space, you get a hot tub, your own pool, and all the things that make a home a home. A roaring fireplace keeps you warm on winter nights, while their 55” HDTV is ideal for snuggling up for a movie night if you’ve been hitting the hikes a little too hard.

Pets are welcome at this property, and with 2.5 bathrooms you’ll never need to worry about queuing for the shower.

She will look after you similarly well, ensuring you have absolutely everything you need for your stay, providing plenty of helpful local knowledge, and maybe even some eggs fresh from the garden.

You can find some of the city’s best farmer’s markets within walking distance, and your host can make some killer recommendations to help you get the very best of the best available.

Pets are welcome on this property, but make sure to book them their own space ahead of time.

Keloka Cliffside Suite

Possibly the most sprawling shared accommodation we’ve seen, this clifftop penthouse may have the owner living downstairs, but you certainly wouldn’t know it – unless you need help with something of course.

The view from atop the cliffs of West Kelowna here defies description. The architect clearly thought so too, because you can watch the Okanagan unfold beneath you from innumerable large windows, balconies, and decking areas. The main balcony alone measures 350 square feet and is fitted with furniture you can melt into and a huge grill for sunset dining bliss.

Decadence is the name of the game throughout the house, with 2600 square feet of sparkling clean, tastefully decorated luxury at your disposal. To give you an idea, you will have sole access to a fully-equipped modern kitchen, four bathrooms, three bedrooms, two dining rooms, two living rooms, a games room with a pool table, and a dedicated office space – and that’s without mentioning all the small personal touches you’ll keep on discovering.

I know we’ve mentioned the view already, but wow, you will have to see it to believe it.

Luxurious Two-Bed Condo at Waterscapes

Towering 22 stories above the downtown waterfront is this sleek, modern condo that sleeps up to four people.

The owners have gone all out on the interior design, decorating the space with modern wood panelling, soft creams, and consistent blue highlights that chime with the gorgeous lake view, open skies, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. You can see all this from the floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the lounge, or the romantic balcony area. Why climb a mountain for the best view of the Okanagan when you can simply just roll out of bed?

There’s not a single mod con or amenity missing in the condo itself, but, if you want more, you’re free to take advantage of everything else Waterscapes has to offer. That means access to not one but two hot tubs, a swimming pool, billiards room, gym, and their luxurious Cascade Lounge.

Rounding out the comprehensiveness of this place is the location, where you’re just a few steps from the beach, as well as all the stand-out retail, entertainment, and gourmet experiences that Kelowna’s cultural district has to offer.

West Kelowna Okanagan Lakeview Condo

Copper Sky in West Kelowna is home to some of the swankiest condos this side of the lake, and this cozy yet modern affair is a great example.

Perfect for solo explorers, couples, or adventurous trios (as long as one of you doesn’t mind sleeping on the sofa bed), you’ll find all the amenities you could ever need split between your apartment and the rest of this two million dollar entertainment megaplex.

The homely interior treats you to what amounts to a mini-household, complete with full granite-topped kitchenette, walk-in closet, and outdoor patio area. The hosts have even supplied thoughtful extras like a cupboard stacked with board games for rainy days and thick housecoats to keep you from getting chilly after taking a dip in the pool or jacuzzi.

Copper Sky itself is a monumental piece of pagoda-inspired architecture, carefully crafted to cater to everyone’s needs. You’ll get access to a saltwater wellness swimming pool (and a kid’s pool for the little ones), sauna, steam rooms, comprehensive gym setup, and a games room featuring all the entertainment options under the sun. But we’re not done yet, sports fans will find a mini-golf course, basketball and tennis courts, and huge outdoor checkers and chess for a touch of cerebral competition.

As well as providing sweeping views of the cityscape both sides of the lake and the surrounding natural splendour, this ideal location puts you within walking distance of the famous 11-stop West Side Wine Trail. All the better to stagger home from, we suppose.

Downtown Lakefront Condo

Just a touch north of both bustling downtown Kelowna and the cultural district, you can find a luxury two-bedroom condo designed for small groups who want to holiday in style.

Scenic cocktails are encouraged with access to a high-end blender and your choice of two opposite-facing patio areas – one for sunrise and one for sunset. Watch the reflections of the lakefront trees shimmer in the water while you whip up dinner on the BBQ grill and serve yourself at the outdoor bar. If things get chilly later on, don’t worry, there’s a fire table out here to keep you warm too.

Indoors you can find a comprehensive kitchen with modern stainless steel appliances, an espresso machine perfect for seizing the day, a TV with access to Crave and HBO, and full laundry facilities. The rest of the complex provides you with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, a gym, and tennis courts. A personal parking space awaits you downstairs too. What more could you want?

With the beachfront and Knox Mountain Park mere minutes away, as well as access to the full splendour of the cultural district and a neighbouring bird sanctuary, there’s plenty of options for stretching your legs right on your doorstep.

Condo at the Heart of Kelowna’s Cultural District

Whether you really want to impress your romantic partner, or simply want to romance yourself with the very best bachelor pad available, you’ll struggle to snag a better spot than this ultra-slick condo right in the thick of the cultural district.

The highlight is undoubtedly the huge private outdoor terrace, with its sofa suite, dining furniture, grilling station, modernist fire table, and spectacular sixth-story view. This is the place for a night of unwinding with local vintages, entertaining, or throwing a spontaneous sunset get-together!

Elsewhere you’ll be treated to a luxurious king-size bed, leather sectional seating, a heartily stocked kitchen complete with breakfast bar, tasteful interior design touches, and comprehensive gym access. The only thing this place lacks is a washing machine, but we think the decadence of your very own heated underground parking spot more than makes up for it.

It goes without saying that the most central possible location in downtown Kelowna means that there’s not much that isn’t at your fingertips immediately upon stepping outside.

Between the smart home features, cutting-edge laundry room, and a full concierge service including housekeeping, delivery, and local recommendations, you won’t have to lift a finger.

The 1.2-acre grounds feature enough parking space for multiple vehicles, plus boats, and are within walking distance of eight wineries, including local stand-outs like Mission Hill and Quail’s Gate. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Downtown Waterfront Condo

With 1600 square feet of space, nine beds, and the capacity to sleep up to 12 guests, not only is this lavish condo perfect for large families – you could easily fit multiple families inside.

So, whether you’ve got a massive clan or are planning a joint getaway, consider the luxury sprawl of this condo just above Kelowna’s cultural district. Nothing is missing, with more appliances and amenities than the average home, all brand-new and top of the range. These include four flatscreen TVs all above 50” (all with Netflix too), a roaring fireplace, pool table, and an outdoor patio with a grill more than large enough to handle your family’s appetite.

The walk from your grill to the rest of the amenities on-site takes all of 45 seconds. These communal features include multiple swimming pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, a huge and social courtyard, and boat access or moorage if you’ve brought your own vessel.

Then there’s the location. The view of Okanagan Lake matches the luxury of your interior, and Tugboat Beach is visible from the front door. You’ll be right in the heart of downtown Kelowna, so whatever you need, know that it’s no more than five-minutes’ walk away.

Contemporary Nature Lodge

Fusing an authentic rustic feeling with sun-bathed contemporary style is this eight-guest property east of Kelowna, flanked by Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park.

Adventurous outdoorsy families won’t find a better location than this. You’ll be mere minutes from the aesthetic and historic bliss of the Kettle Valley Trestles, plus uncountable trails, mountain sport, and rock-climbing opportunities. There are even ponies just outside the front door!

The interplay of lush greenery, bright wooden construction, and natural light defines this open-plan property and creates the ultimate atmosphere of rejuvenating family escape. You’ll be totally self-sufficient amenity-wise, and there’s hours of fun to be had playing hide and seek, climbing ladders to reach the snuggest spots in the house, or basking in the unrivalled view across multiple outdoor decks.

The only thing this ranch lacks is TVs, but that just means more quality time can be spent BBQing, unwinding in the hot tub, or planning your next adventure outing.

Despite the immersive wilderness feel, this property ticks all boxes by being just a 20-minute drive from downtown Kelowna.

Lakeview Residential Home in Trader’s Cove

In the tranquillity of Trader’s Cove to the north of Kelowna, you can find this eight-guest lake house so lavish you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for a luxury show-home.

The interior is all sparkling whites and floods of natural light, accented with rustic wooden fixtures and flooring. The open plan design even makes both stories feel like one communal space, so you can feel like a family unit even if one of you is playing the grand piano, two are engaged in fierce competition at the pool table and the rest are taking a load off in the lounge. The kitchen boasts everything needed to whip up a gourmet meal from locally-sourced ingredients, and you can serve it up right there at the charming breakfast bar.

Outdoors you will find multiple grills and BBQs, a fire pit, your own private hot tub, family-style patio furniture, and a hammock – all in 180-degree view of the deep blue waters of Okanagan Lake backed by forested peaks, of course. There’s even a children’s play structure in the large grassy garden for your littlest ones.

It’s just a short stroll to the lakefront, and the surrounding hills are teeming with wild trails and exploration opportunities. Or, if you’d prefer to kick back, there’s a 75” TV loaded with Netflix, Disney+, and a full cable package. Don’t worry, we won’t judge, parents need a break too!

Best Kelowna Bed and Breakfasts

A View to Remember

One thing we love about bed and breakfasts is the best ones can feel like spending the weekend at an old friend’s place. That’s definitely the case at this colourful family-feel accommodation in West Kelowna.

Perhaps our favourite part was the emphasis they put on breakfast. Make your way downstairs between 7.30 and 9.30 for a feast that reflects the bounty of the Okanagan Valley. Always creative, usually featuring farm-fresh eggs, and always accompanied by still-warm baked goods, succulent fruit from the grounds, and organic hot drinks; we couldn’t think of a better start to the day. Super early birds seizing the day can even get it to go.

Guests get the choice of three rooms, two of which are designed for couples or solo travellers, and one which features two double beds for small groups. No matter which you opt for, prepare yourself for some serious coziness.

Amenities are standardized across the rooms and include en-suite toilets, ironing boards, cable TVs, fridges, microwaves, coffee makers, kettles, radio alarm clocks, comprehensive toiletries, and, of course, those essential wine glasses and corkscrews.

Hillcrest Farm Market

People come from all over the country – if not the world – to score their own gourmet local ingredients from one of Kelowna’s farmer’s markets. So, why not stay right above one?

The staff here live and breathe quality Okanagan produce, and when they’re not serving it up to you for breakfast with a smile, they’re stocking the shelves so you can bring it home by the bundle.

Choose from the Luxury King Suite or its wife. Both are essentially the same, but the Luxury Queen Suite comes with two double beds instead of one, so you can sleep twice as many people at the cost of just a little starfishing space. All rooms come with private bathrooms (boasting both spacious showers and soaker tubs), fireplaces, Wi-Fi, flatscreen cable TVs, mini-fridges, coffee machines, and kettles as standard.

Located on the west end of Kelowna, you’re only a short drive away from downtown, less than an hour from Big White Ski Resort, and practically touching the mountains for all your hiking and Trestle Railway exploring needs.

Ogopogo Bed & Breakfast

Although it’s named after the mysterious lake monster of Okanagan Lake, don’t be fooled, this bright and modern slice of joy in the cultural district is anything but creepy.

Well into its 12th year of operation, the staff at Ogopogo are well-versed in making their guests’ stays something special. In true Kelowna style, their breakfast chefs are foodies too and will delight your palate each morning with locally-sourced gourmet treats. They know all the best spots around town (many of which are mere minutes away) and can even sort you out with some loaned bikes so you can explore the city right.

Even the architecture will uplift you, with an emphasis on revitalizing white décor and plenty of windows to let the Okanagan summer sun come streaming in. They offer several different rooms, all with the essential amenities, but we would particularly recommend the Manhattan Suite for its glorious sunset-facing private deck area.

Lakeshore Bed & Breakfast

Do you wish you could wake up on a fine morning in the Okanagan, be served a scintillating breakfast, and then stroll mere metres down the beach to the lakefront with the option to take an energizing dip once you’ve done digesting? Well, let us make your dreams a reality.

Lakeshore sits right at the water’s edge on Pandosy Street, so once you’ve finished your breakfast spread of a hot entrée, local seasonal fruit, baked goodies, farm-fresh preserves, and piping hot coffee, you can go directly down to watch the sailboats pass by. The rest of the day is yours to hike, swim, kayak, or otherwise explore to your heart’s content.

The rooms at this B&B are warmly decorated in a rural style, with luxurious options like heated tile floors, extra-large soaker tubs, and blissful balconies available.

If you needed any more convincing, hosts Louise and Andy are passionate about everything they do, full of titbits about Kelowna that only locals could know, and derive genuine joy from ensuring you get the most out of your city break.
