Welcome to the Best Ever Guide to Kelowna Hotels, including Kelowna Cabins and Kelowna Vacation Rentals!

In a city defined by the varied delights of outdoorsmanship, gastronomy, arts, culture, and blanketed by an ever-present cosmopolitan buzz, it’s no surprise that the accommodation options are as wide-ranging as the opportunities for adventure.

If you’ve got the money to spend, you can live it up in sprawling condos or penthouse suites that open out onto brochure-worthy vistas of rugged peaks and crystal lakes. If you’re traveling on a shoestring, there’s plenty of spots offering affordable amenities and practical comfort. Anti-social outdoorsmen can find mountain-top hideaways, while youthful socialites can get right in amongst the downtown action or meet genuine locals on a farm stay. A true city of multiplicity, Kelowna has a place for everyone.

That’s why we’ve put together this guide to the cream of the crop places to stay. Whether you’re a large family unit or a broke student exploring during spring break, you can find something perfect for you in the list below.

One hot tip before we get started, if you have your own transport and want to experience the very best in holistic wellness, state-of-the-art facilities, and a wilderness location like no other, we can’t recommend Sparkling Hill Resort enough. It’s such a dream getaway spot that it needed a whole write-up of its own. Trust us, it’s worth that little extra drive.

The Royal Kelowna – Bellstar Hotels & Resorts

Travellers seeking to set their stay amongst authentic grandeur should heavily consider The Royal Kelowna.

Upon entering the gates, you will be greeted by warm light emanating from the resplendent entrance, flanked by wings that are more glass than anything else – all the better for admiring the fantastic views of the city. What you won’t see from the entrance, however, is the majesty of their rooftop infinity pool with Okanagan Lake so close you could practically dip a toe in it. The jaw-dropping views continue poolside, with a horizon panorama that wraps you in far-off peaks. You will want to catch at least one sunset from up here – maybe from the hot tub?

Inside you’ll find finely-marbled foyers, a fitness centre, and relaxing sauna. The open-plan guest rooms feel like the house of an old friend, considerately fitted with all the essential mod cons. Your own full dining room, flat-screen TV, sofa lounges, and spa bath will leave you wanting for nothing. You’ll find yet more gorgeous views from your own personal lake-facing balcony.

The location is great too, just a handful of minutes from the airport (with a free shuttle bus service), Harvest Golf Club, Black Mountain Golf Club, Prospera Place, and Lake City Casinos!

All of this is accompanied by an extensive list of local wines and beers, to bring the Okanagan back into this little slice of Italy.

Serenity Lakeside Cottage

Our furthest afield cottage recommendation lies out on the shores of Idabel Lake, just under an hour’s drive east from Kelowna. This rustic barn-style cottage is the ultimate base for a huge range of outdoor adventure activities that change with the seasons.

In the summer, hit the lake to swim, fish, or take advantage of help-yourself rowboats and canoes. Or, if you prefer dry land, hunting and quad biking are among the local favourite pastimes. In the winter, there’s snow sports galore with cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, and ice fishing opportunities all nearby. Hiking in the breathtaking mountains here is a highlight no matter when you visit.

The cottage itself is adorable, well-equipped, and pet-friendly. The loft space has three double beds, plus there’s room for one more on the sofa bed in the living room. You’ll be self-sufficient with a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry appliances.

Enjoy tranquil lake views from the spacious decking area, complete with a BBQ. You’ll also find a private hot tub to the side of the cottage.

While it may be a bit of a drive from Kelowna, and the cell signal is patchy at best, you would be hard pushed to beat this location for its outdoorsmanship potential.

The stylish open-plan design allows conversation to flow freely between the kitchen, dining room, and lounge. There’s a designated movie room with a 60” TV. Between the smart home features, cutting-edge laundry room, and a full concierge service including housekeeping, delivery, and local recommendations, you won’t have to lift a finger.

The 1.2-acre grounds feature enough parking space for multiple vehicles, plus boats, and are within walking distance of eight wineries, including local stand-outs like Mission Hill and Quail’s Gate. It doesn’t get much better than this.

With 1600 square feet of space, nine beds, and the capacity to sleep up to 12 guests, not only is this lavish condo perfect for large families – you could easily fit multiple families inside.

So, whether you’ve got a massive clan or are planning a joint getaway, consider the luxury sprawl of this condo just above Kelowna’s cultural district. The walk from your grill to the rest of the amenities on-site takes all of 45 seconds. These communal features include multiple swimming pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, a huge and social courtyard, and boat access or moorage if you’ve brought your own vessel.

Lakeview Residential Home in Trader’s Cove

In the tranquillity of Trader’s Cove to the north of Kelowna, you can find this eight-guest lake house so lavish you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for a luxury show-home.

The interior is all sparkling whites and floods of natural light, accented with rustic wooden fixtures and flooring. The open plan design even makes both stories feel like one communal space, so you can feel like a family unit even if one of you is playing the grand piano, two are engaged in fierce competition at the pool table and the rest are taking a load off in the lounge. The kitchen boasts everything needed to whip up a gourmet meal from locally-sourced ingredients, and you can serve it up right there at the charming breakfast bar.

Outdoors you will find multiple grills and BBQs, a fire pit, your own private hot tub, family-style patio furniture, and a hammock – all in 180-degree view of the deep blue waters of Okanagan Lake backed by forested peaks, of course. There’s even a children’s play structure in the large grassy garden for your littlest ones.

It’s just a short stroll to the lakefront, and the surrounding hills are teeming with wild trails and exploration opportunities. Or, if you’d prefer to kick back, there’s a 75” TV loaded with Netflix, Disney+, and a full cable package. Don’t worry, we won’t judge, parents need a break too!

Best Kelowna Bed and Breakfasts

A View to Remember

One thing we love about bed and breakfasts is the best ones can feel like spending the weekend at an old friend’s place. That’s definitely the case at this colourful family-feel accommodation in West Kelowna.

Perhaps our favourite part was the emphasis they put on breakfast. Make your way downstairs between 7.30 and 9.30 for a feast that reflects the bounty of the Okanagan Valley. Always creative, usually featuring farm-fresh eggs, and always accompanied by still-warm baked goods, succulent fruit from the grounds, and organic hot drinks; we couldn’t think of a better start to the day. Super early birds seizing the day can even get it to go.

Guests get the choice of three rooms, two of which are designed for couples or solo travellers, and one which features two double beds for small groups. No matter which you opt for, prepare yourself for some serious coziness.

Amenities are standardized across the rooms and include en-suite toilets, ironing boards, cable TVs, fridges, microwaves, coffee makers, kettles, radio alarm clocks, comprehensive toiletries, and, of course, those essential wine glasses and corkscrews.

Hillcrest Farm Market

People come from all over the country – if not the world – to score their own gourmet local ingredients from one of Kelowna’s farmer’s markets. So, why not stay right above one?

The staff here live and breathe quality Okanagan produce, and when they’re not serving it up to you for breakfast with a smile, they’re stocking the shelves so you can bring it home by the bundle.

Choose from the Luxury King Suite or its wife. Both are essentially the same, but the Luxury Queen Suite comes with two double beds instead of one, so you can sleep twice as many people at the cost of just a little starfishing space. All rooms come with private bathrooms (boasting both spacious showers and soaker tubs), fireplaces, Wi-Fi, flatscreen cable TVs, mini-fridges, coffee machines, and kettles as standard.

Located on the west end of Kelowna, you’re only a short drive away from downtown, less than an hour from Big White Ski Resort, and practically touching the mountains for all your hiking and Trestle Railway exploring needs.

Ogopogo Bed & Breakfast

Although it’s named after the mysterious lake monster of Okanagan Lake, don’t be fooled, this bright and modern slice of joy in the cultural district is anything but creepy.

Well into its 12th year of operation, the staff at Ogopogo are well-versed in making their guests’ stays something special. In true Kelowna style, their breakfast chefs are foodies too and will delight your palate each morning with locally-sourced gourmet treats. They know all the best spots around town (many of which are mere minutes away) and can even sort you out with some loaned bikes so you can explore the city right.

Even the architecture will uplift you, with an emphasis on revitalizing white décor and plenty of windows to let the Okanagan summer sun come streaming in. They offer several different rooms, all with the essential amenities, but we would particularly recommend the Manhattan Suite for its glorious sunset-facing private deck area.

The rooms at this B&B are warmly decorated in a rural style, with luxurious options like heated tile floors, extra-large soaker tubs, and blissful balconies available.
